MLX Studio is built with privacy as a core principle. Unlike cloud-based AI services, all AI processing happens entirely on your device using Apple's MLX framework. This means:

• Your conversations never leave your device
• Your documents and images are processed locally
• No account or sign-up required
• Works offline after models are downloaded

Data We Collect

We collect minimal data required for the app to function:

• Anonymous Device ID: A randomly generated identifier stored on your device. This is used solely for authentication and is not linked to any personal information.

Data We Don't Collect

We do not collect, store, or have access to:

• Your conversations with the AI
• Documents, images, or files you process
• Your personal information (name, email, etc.)
• Usage patterns or analytics
• Location data

Local Data Storage

All app data is stored locally on your device:

• Conversations: Stored in your device's local storage using SwiftData
• AI Models: Downloaded models are stored in your app's container
• Preferences: App settings are stored locally

You can delete all local data at any time by removing the app from your device.

Online Features

The following features require internet connectivity:

• Model Downloads: AI models are downloaded from Hugging Face. These downloads don't send any personal data.
• Model Catalog: The app fetches the available model list from our backend. Only your anonymous device ID is sent for authentication.
• App Configuration: The app fetches feature flags and version info from our backend to ensure compatibility.

Offline Mode

When the backend is unreachable (offline mode), all network communication is disabled:

• No data is sent to our servers
• No error reports or analytics are transmitted
• The app works entirely with cached models on your device
• You can continue using the app with full privacy

Third-Party Services

MLX Studio interacts with the following third-party services:

• Hugging Face: For downloading AI model weights (no personal data shared)
• Apple App Store: For app distribution

Children's Privacy

MLX Studio does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The app processes all data locally and does not require any personal information to use.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
